Featured Missionaries
Wayne and Dianna Penner
Wayne & Dianna teach at the International College of Bible and Missions (ICBM) in Johannesburg, South Africa. ICBM was approved last year for a new accreditation program. ICBM is rebuilding and now has around 50 students that study both in person and through distance learning. The school offers Bible, theology, Christian education and missions courses and most students come with the goal of becoming equipped for preaching, youth work or missionary ministries. Before South Africa, the Penners served in Brazil for 30 years doing church planting and pastoral training. Since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, the Penners have lived in Kansas City, where they continue to teach remotely for ICBM, teach in-person for Carver Bible College, and minister to international students at Park University.
John and Luci Tumas
John and Luci have served with Wycliffe Bible Translators and SIL International since 1980. After 15 years of ministry in Papua New Guinea, they continued their roles in accounting (John) and communications (Luci) from various locations in the US. Currently, they work remotely from their home in Longmont, CO. John manages the finance team that provides all accounting services for Bible translation projects in North, Central and South America, and also for Global Sign Language translation. Luci has retired from her SIL ministry but continues the Tumas ministry communications. Her writing ministry now includes a middle grade novel (series, possibly) about a pre-teen missionary kid in Papua New Guinea.
Cindy Wells
Cindy was born and raised in the inner city of St. Louis. She began working full time with CEF in 1985 as a field worker and in 1990 became the Co-Director of the Greater St. Louis area. Since the mid 90’s she has served as the Local Director for the GSTL Area.
Part of her ministry involves multiplying herself in the lives of others through training and mentoring. She serves as the Christian Youth in Action Director for the state of Missouri. This program equips young people to teach children through the 5-Day Club ministry. As a Leadership Training Instructor, she helps proctor different students with some of CEF’s online training courses as needed.
Spencer & Sammi Youngblood
Spencer and Sammi are missionary candidates with TEAM, planning to move to a suburb of Berlin, Germany later this year to begin language study. Their long-term goal is to support a church plant with TEAM and the Acts 29 Network. They are currently raising support, and Matthias’ Lot is their sending church. Spencer grew up attending Hope Church and we are in the process of evaluating them as missionary candidates.
Faith Promise Giving
Your Faith Promise pledge supports Hope Church's global missions activities including monthly support for Hope missionaries, special projects, and short term mission trips. The Faith Promise pledge cards are used to help determine the annual missions budget.
You will find a pledge card in your church mail folder. This card is meant as a reminder to yourself of your commitment. There is also a portion that we ask you to detach and place in the offering box outside the office.
Your Faith Promise is strictly voluntary. It should not replace your tithe. It’s between you and God. We will never ask you about it. We will not tell you what to give. You decide what to give by FAITH.
We ask that you and your family take time to pray about what God would have you to give to support our missionaries.
Missionary Prayer Journal
Twice each month, we publish a prayer list with current prayer needs from all of our missionaries. If you would like to receive this prayer list to uphold our missionaries in prayer, please let us know.
